Missions
Jesus said, "Do you love me? Take care of my sheep." John 21:16
His message is clear. If we love Him we will take care of his people.
The mission ethic of this congregation at The Sanctuary is described in our statement of purpose as “using our natural and spiritual gifts in ministry to the church and to the world.” While we are committed to sharing our financial resources with many Christian programs, we also work directly with His people striving to use our personal skills and the inspiration so graciously given us by God.
Locally, we serve the homeless community, needy children and assist the elderly. We continually collect, deliver and help distribute food, clothing and toiletries to those with not even a place to be “at home.” Our active involvement with women’s prison ministry allows us to support these women while imprisoned as well as after they are released to carve out a new life – often in an uncertain and even fearsome environment. Seasonal mission-related programs are supported by our congregation throughout the year allowing each of us the opportunity to share our time and talents in provision for others.
Globally, we are challenged to physically reach unfamiliar areas and experience cultures of the many who struggle simply to survive. While easing immediate need, we hope to exhibit God’s love and incorporate improvements into the existing way of life. We have traveled to the village of Sabanagrande, Honduras to care for orphans and the elderly; build a dental clinic and a baseball program; and leave behind the assurance of our continued love and prayers. The Sanctuary has helped to spread the message of His love in Africa with the gathering, packaging and shipping of books to Nigeria. Presently, we are working with organized groups in Granada, Nicaragua to bring, along with clothing and other necessities, literacy to a population eager to learn, progress and become self-sufficient.
